Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna Lead ‘Vampires of Vijay Nagar’ in Dinesh Vijan’s Expanding Horror Comedy Universe
Starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna in lead roles, “Vampires of Vijay Nagar” is set to be a thrilling addition to Dinesh Vijan’s horror comedy universe. Directed by Aditya Satpodar, this new venture promises to blend horror and humor in a way that only Vijan’s productions can achieve.
Dinesh Vijan has become a maestro of the horror comedy genre, starting with the 2018 hit “Stree” and continuing with “Bhediya” and “Munjya.” These films have not only been box office successes but have also carved out a unique niche in Indian cinema. With “Stree 2,” featuring Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao, set for an August 15 release, Vijan is already gearing up for his next big project, “Vampires of Vijay Nagar.”
Sources close to the development have revealed that Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna have been cast in this horror comedy set against the backdrop of vampires. “Ayushmann and Dinesh share a great creative bond, having previously collaborated on ‘Bala.’ They’ve been discussing ‘Vampires of Vijay Nagar’ for a while and are set to start filming by the end of this year,” a source disclosed. The team aims to commence shooting in November.
This film will mark the second collaboration between Aditya Satpodar and Dinesh Vijan after the success of “Munjya.” It also marks the first collaboration between Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna. “Both actors have unique arcs in the film that will surprise audiences. The script is currently in the writing stage and will soon enter pre-production,” the source added.
Before starting “Vampires of Vijay Nagar,” Ayushmann Khurrana is expected to finish filming an untitled spy comedy produced by Karan Johar and commence shooting for the Anurag Singh-directed “Border 2.” Rashmika Mandanna, on the other hand, will wrap up “Pushpa 2” with Allu Arjun and “Sikandar” with Salman Khan before joining the vampire comedy.
