Mammootty’s Brahmayugam: A Personal Reflection on Modern Horror

By Bandaru Divya Apr17,2024

At places, it felt like it was missing its own reality and originality. The experiment could go any place; it can be any random and weird, but trying to do things that we have seen for ages might go misplaced at times. It might really work like magic sometimes. I didn’t have any expectations before stepping in for it, though I know it’s a horror. But watching something that’s very predictable at most of the places makes anybody who’s witnessing the sound design with no grandeur visual surprises, and the things that are naturally happening in the film makes us easily get distracted amidst the bad audience around you and the theatre’s bad management of keeping lights on for almost a significant amount of time into the film.

A lot of horror/thriller films are famous for their sound design, but if it is just done for the sake of it, and doing something that’s not relevant to the film or character because a superstar is in it makes it an ordinary thing. Trying to have some cool inspirational films as references or aping them in their films would be done with much subtlety is what I felt after watching it.

The kind of set-up the film has for its story to take place is beautiful, deeper, dark, messy, but that didn’t serve the purpose to its ability. The film-watching experience is very personal, agreeing if it had a crazy impact on people. Wish I would be the one among them, Coz I have waited for a long time to hit the theatres after watching the trailer for the first time.

Go watch if you would want to know what’s in it for you personally.
