Animated sci-fi series ‘Scavengers Reign’ gets the axe at Max after one season, but will find new life on Netflix starting May 31.
Max has decided to pull the plug on the animated sci-fi series “Scavengers Reign” after just one season. The show’s cancellation comes as a surprise to fans who had been eagerly awaiting news of its renewal.
Created by animators, writers, and directors Joe Bennett and Charles Huettner, “Scavengers Reign” follows the adventures of a stranded crew from a damaged deep space freighter on an enigmatic planet. As they struggle to survive, they uncover the planet’s dark secrets while hoping for rescue.
Despite its unique premise and dedicated fan base, Max has chosen not to move forward with the series beyond its initial season. However, there’s good news for fans who want to catch up or revisit the show. Starting May 31, “Scavengers Reign” will be available for streaming on Netflix, giving viewers another chance to dive into its thrilling world.

The series, which debuted on Max in October, boasts a talented team of creators and producers, including supervising director Benjy Brooke and executive producers Chris Prynoski, Antonio Canobbio, Shannon Prynoski, and Ben Kalina for Titmouse. Co-executive producers Sean Buckelew and James Merrill round out the team from Green Street Pictures.
While the cancellation of “Scavengers Reign” is disappointing for fans, its move to Netflix offers a new opportunity for the show to find a wider audience and potentially pave the way for future projects from its talented creators.
