“Manjummel Boys” is a 2024 Indian Malayalam-language survival thriller film written and directed by Chidambaram and produced by Parava Films. The ensemble cast includes Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, Balu Varghese, Ganapathi S. Poduval, Lal Jr., Deepak Parambol, Abhiram Radhakrishnan, Arun Kurian, Khalid Rahman, Chandu Salimkumar, Shebin Benson, and Vishnu Reghu. The movie is based on a true incident from 2006 and follows a group of friends from Manjummel near Kochi who plan a vacation in Kodaikanal.
As ‘Manjummel Boys‘ reaches its 40th day in theaters, the film starring Soubin Shahir is facing a decline in box office performance due to the competition from ‘Aadujeevitham‘. Recent reports from Sacnilk reveal that the movie earned Rs 45 lakhs on its 40th day. Directed by Chidambaram, the film has achieved an impressive India net collection of around Rs 125.55 crore in 39 days. The total worldwide collection after 40 days stands at Rs 220.54 crore, with Rs 72.00 crore coming from overseas markets.
The film premiered on 22 February 2024 in Kerala and Tamil Nadu, garnering praise from both viewers and critics. It marked a significant milestone in the Malayalam film industry by crossing ₹200 crore in earnings, setting new box-office records and becoming the top-grossing Malayalam film to date, surpassing the previous record from 2018. Additionally, it secured its place as the third highest grossing Indian film of 2024. The Telugu-language dubbed version was released on 6 April 2024, further solidifying its position as the highest grossing Malayalam film of the year and as one of the top-grossing Indian films of 2024.
The film is set to premiere on Hotstar in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi languages this May.
