Sandeep Reddy Vanga, renowned for his meticulous attention to detail, delivered a remarkable cinematic experience with the action-thriller Animal, featuring Ranbir Kapoor and Bobby Deol. While Ranbir led the film, Bobby Deol’s portrayal of Abrar Haque captivated audiences, thanks to a collaborative effort in designing his look.
Aalim Hakim, a celebrity hairstylist, shared insights into how Bobby Deol’s cinematically wild look for Abrar was meticulously crafted, highlighting Vanga’s involvement in the process.
Crafting the Look
In a recent post, Aalim Hakim recounted how Vanga was intricately involved in shaping Bobby Deol’s character. Vanga’s dedication to detail ensured that every aspect of Abrar’s look reflected his backstory and emotional state.
Hakim detailed the process, stating, “When the Maestro Sandeep Reddy Vanga gave me the narration of the character of Abrar for his hairstyling and beard, he explained to me the whole backstory of revenge and his character. Sandeep sir explained to me that the character is based in the UK.”
Given the UK setting, the team initially considered a sharp beard and hairstyle common among men there. However, they decided against it, choosing instead a look that mirrored Abrar’s turbulent emotions and quest for revenge.
“We wanted to create the character as the story of the film and the emotion he is going through. For Abrar, it was revenge. So, it was very important that the hair for this character cannot be sharp or very neat because his mind is full-time into taking revenge. We wanted Bobby to look very different and cinematically wild.”
The Final Touches
Aalim Hakim revealed that the look was finalized in their Versova salon in Mumbai on March 24, 2023, with Sandeep Reddy Vanga present to oversee every detail. The final look featured a cone-shaped beard and tousled hair, designed to project a rugged and untamed aura.
Hakim concluded his post by praising Deol’s performance and the collaborative vision, “We kept a cone-shaped beard and the hair completely tousled by diffusing it. Rest it was the aura of Bobby Deol and the vision of Sandeep Reddy Vanga to make Abrar light up the screen with his presence. Bobby Deol killed it with his performance as Abrar.”
Bobby Deol’s transformation into Abrar in Animal is a testament to the power of detailed character design and the importance of collaboration in filmmaking. With Vanga’s direction and Hakim’s styling expertise, Deol’s portrayal of Abrar adds a compelling layer to the film, making it a memorable cinematic experience.
