The event, hosted by Tamil-Telugu actor Rana Daggubati, featured exclusive moments that have since become the talk of the town. Amitabh Bachchan’s humble gesture of touching producer Aswini C Dutt’s feet after receiving the first ticket for the film won hearts both at the venue and on social media. Renowned director Ram Gopal Varma lauded this moment on his X account, emphasizing the significance of such respect in the industry.

The makers of Kalki 2898 AD have left no stone unturned in their promotional efforts, from releasing teasers, posters, and character first looks to even launching an animated series. The pre-release event in Mumbai showcased unseen footage from the film, accompanied by live performances, including drummers and an a capella rendition of the theme song.

Deepika Padukone, who is due in September, plays the character Sumathi in the film. She shared her joy in being part of such a unique project, highlighting the innovative vision of director Nag Ashwin. “It’s been a great learning experience. The magic in Nagi’s head is now here for everyone to see. It’s been an incredible experience at both a personal and professional level,” she said.

Kamal Haasan, who plays the antagonist Supreme Yaskin, shared his enthusiasm for playing a villain, a role he finds more creatively fulfilling.

Kalki 2898 AD is set in a dystopian, post-catastrophic world where resources are scarce, and the city of Kasi remains the last refuge. The wealthy live within The Complex, an inverted pyramid structure towering over Kasi, while those outside aspire to enter it. A hidden refuge, Shambala, offers shelter to people from all cultures and religions.

Directed by Nag Ashwin, the film is poised to be a visual and narrative spectacle. Kalki 2898 AD is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on June 27, available in multiple languages, including Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and English.
