Director Nag Ashwin Teases Exciting Developments and New Characters in the Kalki Cinematic Universe
Director Nag Ashwin is basking in the success of his latest blockbuster, “Kalki 2898 AD,” which stars Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Disha Patani, and Kamal Haasan. When asked about the future of the Kalki Cinematic Universe, Nag Ashwin hinted at a plethora of exciting possibilities. While he remained coy about a potential combat scene between Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan in the next installment, he confirmed that new characters and an entirely new world would be introduced. “We have a scope to do it in this sort of a world. We don’t have a road map but we started an animated series already. Two more episodes of the animated series are going to come out. And for example, an animated spinoff or small series of Kaira could happen. A small series, a prequel; the old wars could happen,” Ashwin revealed.
He further elaborated, “There are so many things that could take off but we haven’t sat down and figured out.” This indicates that the creative team is still exploring various avenues to expand the universe, offering fans a wealth of content to look forward to.
The interview also touched upon the Mahabharata angle in “Kalki 2898 AD.” Nag Ashwin emphasized that he would incorporate elements of the Mahabharata only when necessary. He believes that SS Rajamouli, known for his passion for the Mahabharata, should be the one to bring this epic narrative to life on the big screen.
