Karthik Sabareesh’s journey to the world of cinema is nothing short of a cinematic tale in itself. Born and raised in Nellore, his early years were spent amidst the hustle and bustle of his father’s construction business. But deep down, Karthik harbored a burning passion for the world of movies.
“After working alongside my father for a while, I realized my heart was elsewhere,” Karthik reminisces. Leaving behind the comforts of home, Karthik set out for Hyderabad in 2014, determined to carve a path in the Telugu film industry. Despite lack of support from family, he persevered, eventually landing a role as a creative director at Runway Reels (Tamada Media).
It was here(in Hyderabad) that fate intervened, leading him to a fateful encounter with director Vidyadhar Kagita. “Vidyadhar’s passion for storytelling was infectious,” Karthik recalls. “I knew we were destined to create something special together.”
Their partnership marked the beginning of a series of successful collaborations, including projects like “Vaitharini” and “Vara.” But it was their crowning achievement, “Gaami,” that truly put them on the map.
“Producing ‘Gaami’ was a labor of love,” Karthik shares. “From crowdfunding to navigating logistical challenges, every step was a testament to our dedication.” [Note: the total budget for the film was 5.8Cr – Sources close to producer]
Despite facing setbacks like the India-Pakistan border skirmishes and the COVID-19 pandemic, Karthik remained undeterred, ensuring the film’s completion with unwavering determination.
“As we geared up for the film’s release, anticipation was high,” Karthik reflects. “But nothing could prepare us for the overwhelming response we received.”
The critical acclaim and box office success of “Gaami” catapulted Karthik and his team into the spotlight, reaffirming their belief in the power of storytelling.
Now, as “Gaami” makes its much-awaited debut on ZEE5, Karthik’s journey comes full circle.
