Vijay Sethupathi’s 50th Film Maharaja Hits Theatres June 14: Netflix and Star TV Secure Rights

Vijay Sethupathi’s much-awaited 50th film, “Maharaja,” directed by Nithilan Swaminathan, is set to release in Tamil and Telugu cinemas on June 14, 2024. The film, produced by Passion Studios and The Route, marks a significant milestone in Sethupathi’s illustrious career.

Adding to the excitement, “Maharaja” has already secured Netflix as its OTT platform, ensuring a wide digital reach. Additionally, the Star TV channel group has acquired the satellite rights, amplifying the film’s visibility across different media.

NVR Cinema will handle the Telugu release, reflecting the film’s expansive regional appeal. The ensemble cast includes notable actors such as Mamta Mohandas, Bharathiraja, Abhirami, and Anurag Kashyap, with music composed by B. Ajaneesh Loknath.

“Maharaja” is an action drama, co-written by Nithilan Swaminathan and Raam Murali. Filming commenced in February 2023 under the tentative title VJS50, with principal photography wrapping up by mid-July. The movie was predominantly shot in Chennai, capturing the city’s vibrant essence.

The film’s music and background score, crafted by B. Ajaneesh Loknath, mark his first collaboration with Sethupathi and his second with Swaminathan, following their previous work on “Kurangu Bommai.”

As anticipation builds, fans eagerly await the theatrical release and the subsequent digital debut of “Maharaja,” promising an enthralling cinematic experience.
