Vishwak Sen reveals plans for a Falaknuma Das sequel, showcasing Hyderabadi Hindi, while promoting his upcoming film, Gangs of Godavari.
Vishwak Sen is riding high on the anticipation for his upcoming film, “Gangs of Godavari,” set in the 1980s and revolving around thugs and politics in the Eluru and Godavari coastal regions of Andhra Pradesh. In a recent interview with Ram Venkat Srikar, a Film Companion alumnus now with Galatta Telugu, Vishwak Sen discussed the cultural unity between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. He also reminisced about his time in Bombay while learning acting.
Vishwak Sen shared, “While I was learning acting in an acting school in Bombay, people used to make fun of my Hyderabadi Hindi. I decided to shoot Falaknuma Das separately in Hindi and Telugu. Both versions will be set against the backdrop of Hyderabad. The movie will feature a Hyderabadi hero speaking Hyderabadi Hindi. We have seen Bihari, Punjabi, and Bhojpuri slang in Hindi films, but no one has shown proper Hyderabadi slang. The audience needs to see a genuine Hyderabadi Hindi guy.”

He further added, “It is impossible for someone from Bombay to learn Hyderabadi Hindi. Only someone who has grown up in Hyderabad can speak the slang correctly.” He pointed out that this was evident in films like ‘Bobby Jasoos’ and ‘Daawat-e-Ishq,’ which attempted to showcase Hyderabadi culture but fell short of authenticity.
Vishwak Sen’s commitment to creating an authentic “Hyderabadi” film has excited fans, confirming that a sequel to Falaknuma Das is indeed on the cards. While the actor is currently busy promoting “Gangs of Godavari,” he has already made a significant impact this year with the success of Vidyadhar Kagita’s “Gaami.”
“Gangs of Godavari,” an Indian Telugu-language action drama, is written and directed by Krishna Chaitanya. Sai Kumar. The film is slated for a theatrical release on May 31, 2024.
